Crimean NGO files complaint with European Court of Human Rights about illegal detention of journalist
January 22 –CrimeaSOS filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights regarding the illegal detention of journalist Iryna Danylovych in temporarily occupied Crimea. Oleksii Tilnenko, chairman of the KrymSOS board, said: “Her detention violates a number of rights enshrined in the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.”
Iryna Danilovich was detained on April 29, 2022, in the temporarily occupied Crimea while returning home from work. She was accused of carrying an explosive device. In December 2022, the Russian court in Crimea sentenced Danilovich to seven years in prison.
