How to talk about the war: glossary of terminology
April 14 – The Institute for Mass Information and the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security jointly developed a glossary of terms to be used when covering the Russian invasion. The glossary identifies commonly used terms that shift responsibility and do not reflect Ukraine’s territorial integrity and provides alternative terms and phrases. For example, it recommends using the phrases “temporarily occupied territories” or “illegally annexed territories” instead of “disputed territories,” as Ukraine’s borders are not actually disputed.
