IMI Releases Results of its First Media Monitoring of 2020 

February 11 – Five online media, Ukrainsky Tyzhden (Ukrainian Week), Ukrinform, Liga, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia (Weekly Mirror) and Ukrainska Pravda, topped the Institute of Mass Information’s (IMI) news quality ratings for the start of 2020. According to IMI, the content of these outlets was 98% in compliance with professional journalism standards.

IMI reported this as the key result of its monitoring of 18 online media outlets for compliance with journalism standards, conducted in January 2020 with the support of the USAID Media Program in Ukraine.

Following these five media was Censor.Net, which saw 94% of its content comply with professional standards, and following closely was RBC-Ukraine, with a compliance rate of 92%.

According to IMI, the worst performing online media were Strana.ua, at 60% compliance, and Znaj.ua, with just 14% compliance.
