Lviv Media Forum Launches Project to Combat Disinformation in Western Ukraine

June 23 – The Lviv Media Forum team announced on its website plans to create the Western Ukrainian Anti-Disinformation Media Network to combat misinformation, helping regional media to more effectively combat manipulations and misinformation. Lviv Media Forum experts will analyze the main channels for the spread of disinformation in four regions: Lviv, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi.

The network will develop expert recommendations for how newsrooms can counter disinformation; a network of partnerships will be initiated with local newsrooms in these regions. The task of the network will be to work out concrete steps to combat manipulations in the information fields of these regions, and implement recommendations.

The results of the project will be presented at a session entitled “Western Ukrainian Forum on Disinformation” at the annual Lviv Media Forum Talks, which will take place in the fall of 2021 in Uzhhorod.

The Western Ukrainian Anti-Disinformation Media Network project is supported by the USAID Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI).
