Madrid IFF Accepts Internews-Produced Documentary into Competition
May 18: The 2018 Madrid International Film Festival [MadridIFF] has accepted Internews-supported ‘The Limits of Waiting’ documentary into festival-screening program.
The 40-minute film tells stories of missing people in Ukraine. It features the family of a Crimean activist who was abducted on the eve of the annexation of Crimea, and a mother from Lutsk, whose two sons, volunteers of the Aidar battalion, went missing at the beginning of the armed conflict in the Ukraine’s east. Both stories reflect the fate of many other Ukrainian families who have lost their homes, loved ones, and a sense of security since the conflict erupted in Ukraine.
The film’s production has been supported by Internews. The film’s producers are Sergiy Bibik (script), Stanislav Tsekhmistrenko (director) and Viktor Zavalnyuk (cameraman).
Now in its eighth year, the Festival takes place in Madrid over July 21-27, with the International Red Carpet Awards Ceremony on the July 28th. The MIFF provides a platform for filmmakers to meet, network and do business during the festival week. Its main goal is to support independent film industry producers. The festival has 19 categories from feature and educational films to documentaries and television mini-series.
