Press Club Hosts Journalists from Throughout Ukraine

February 3-4 – The Kharkiv Press Club hosted journalists from Ternopil, Volyn, Zakarpattya, Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts as part of its first media tour in the USAID-funded project, Coverage of Reforms in Ukraine by Regional Media. Thirty journalists acquainted with the Kharkiv Oblast environmental, security and defense reform process participated in the program. They visited a “Smart border”, known as project “The Wall” or “European shaft”, aiming to keep irregular immigrants, subversive and reconnaissance groups.

The journalists also participated in Groundhog Day celebrations, also organized by the Press Club. Observing the Groundhog Day became popular with this group of journalists thirteen years ago, as part of a previous USAID media development project – Ukraine Reform Education Project.

The Press Club has been hosting journalists at this time of year since 2004 to highlight the biodiversity issue in eastern Ukraine.
