Radio Donbas.Reality Resumes Broadcasts in Donbas
August 31 – Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) announced its plan to resume broadcasts of its Radio Donbas.Reality on the Vilne Radio (Free Radio) frequency in Donetsk region on September 1st. The signal will be relayed through transmitters in Bakhmut and Hirnyk towns, and an increase in transmitter power in Hirnyk means the coverage radius will be bigger than before and will reach the occupied territories of Donbas.

“In addition to the website, Vilne Radio will again be available in FM frequencies. On the air of Radio Donbas.Reality we will talk about the most important events of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, tourism potential, history of the region, achievements, problems, and prospects. Radio Donbas.Reality will be broadcast live on our airwaves,” Anastasia Shibiko, director of Vilne Radio, told RFE/RL.

Vilne Radio is a website and radio station in Bakhmut created by volunteers in 2017 and funded by international donors. The radio station had suspended terrestrial broadcasts but will relaunch with the resumption of Radio Donbas.Reality broadcasts.

Earlier, on August 9, 2021, Radio Donbas.Reality, which had aired its programs through Hromadske Radio’s transmitter in Donbas, stopped broadcasting in part of Donbas because Hromadske Radio switched off its transmitter in several Donbas towns due to lack of funds.
