Tender: Media Consumption Survey
Internews, an international non-profit media development organization, implementing the USAID-funded “Media Program in Ukraine”, invites professional sociological companies to participate in a tender for conducting the following surveys:
– Media Consumption 2-stage Survey
Research topics:
• Public perception of the media,
• Level of satisfaction with the quality of the national and regional media of all types,
• Consumer preferences regarding the types of media that they choose,
• Consumption of different types of media,
• Public trust in media,
• Level of citizens’ media literacy,
• Awareness of media ownership,
• Awareness and understanding of reforms coverage (public service broadcasting, decentralization, healthcare, land, green energy and pension reforms),
• Awareness of level of corruption and media coverage of officials’ income and asset declarations.
Coverage: nationwide, Ukraine (obligatory oblasts – Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk; additional oblasts – Volyn, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, Luhansk, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskiy, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, and Chernigiv).
Sample: 4-stage stochastic sample, representing demographic characteristics of the total Ukrainian population (no quotas). External quality criterion sampling – the compliance in twenty-four regions of Ukraine for citizens aged 18 to 65 years. The sample is based on representative survey of Ukrainian population of all settlements of 50,000+ population. The total sample should include the respective number of respondents to fulfill nationwide coverage. Parts of the sample should be located in obligatory regions, with a focus on the East and South by conducting additional focus groups there.
Methodology:
• Face-to-face individual interviews with average length of 40 minutes
• Focus groups for in-depth study of received information during fieldwork (eight locations, population 18-65 y.o., eight respondents per group).
Presentation of results: PowerPoint presentation in English and Ukrainian branded according to the project’s requirements.
Timeline: Finalized documents should be ready for publishing by the end of September 2019.
– Poll journalists of national and regional media, online
Research topics:
• Level of journalists’ professional knowledge,
• Awareness of media law (access to information, defamation, protection of personal data, etc.)
• Study the internal and external factors affecting the quality of journalists and fulfill their role in society, including employment, wages, moral foundations of journalists,
• Freedom of speech through the eyes of journalists and security issues.
Sample: Total of 250 interviews of professional journalists working in the national and regional media of various types, with maximum representation in the regions of Ukraine.
Methodology: On-line self-completion questionnaire (with telephone recruitment, invitation and support during the project), up to 60 minutes.
Presentation of results: PowerPoint presentation in English and Ukrainian branded according to requirements of the project.
Timeline: Finalized documents should be ready for publishing by the end of September 2019.
